lafayette bakery nyc wedding of jamie + matt // high line wedding portraits

My wedding season has officially kicked off with an April wedding what was one of my absolute favorite events to capture to date! Jamie + Matt are just such an amazing, down-to-earth couple, that you can't help but have a good time in their presence. They planned a lovely and very unique wedding day starting with portraits in my most loved NYC spot -- The Meatpacking District -- with a focus on being on The High Line and then we were on our way to their ceremony at the French bakery in the Noho neighborhood, Lafayette. Who knew that this restaurant / bakery had an enchanting wine cellar down below that truly evoked an intimate French feel? It seems as though they are just starting to offer the space up for weddings and I was in love with every detail.

happy earth day!

I wanted to take a minute out of my day to say Happy Earth Day to everyone! While I am still new to the world of gardening, composting, and in general getting my hands dirty creating a sustainable backyard (and even having a backyard in general!), I have always cared about the environment and do everything in my power to preserve it. After all, we would be nothing without nature and all its glory. We have to take care of it! I even consider myself a "green photographer" and you can find out more about what I mean by that in the my story section of my website.

As the sun has begun to shine in a more consistent manner over that past few days, life in Spring has truly started for my family. My son has officially become obsessed with being outside and as soon as the sliding door opens, he is ready to bolt. I can't blame him after a snowy winter of being stuck inside and of course becoming a walker outside where there is an oasis of dirt, ants, and rocks to explore, who wouldn't want to be hanging outside most of the day? So let's all follow suit, and spend quality time with nature today!

Cheers to the Earth!

launch of new website

It has been such a long time coming so I am very pleased to announce that I have finally launched my new website photography website! As my wedding season begins in about 9 days and as I finish up with all of my weddings of last year, I figured it was a good time to finally get the site out there. I have been working on it very slowly for months and while there are still quite a few tweaks to work out and SO MANY more wedding + portraits collections to add to it, I am very pleased with it as of right now....meaning as pleased as a busy wedding photographer meets editor meets video editor meets e-commerce home decor co-owner meets busy busy mom of one busy boy COULD EVER BE!

Also while I plug away at preparing for a brand new year here filled with camera gear repairs, new equipment to explore and upcoming beautiful weddings to eagerly await, I was happy to recently be featured on Buzzfeed's grouping of non-traditional wedding themes. Love it and loved the summer camp wedding that my featured photo came from of course!

making your own wedding bouquet

I am a huge fan of handmade elements of a wedding and I have had the pleasure of photographing many of these at weddings I have been in the role of capturing. This last Fall I photographed Tricia + Ariel's amazing Berkshires Massachusetts wedding and when she told me that she put together the flower bouquets, I thought she was kidding. They were gorgeous, straight out of a magazine. Pinks, purples + blues with complimentary baby's breath buds and wrapped with simple ribbon, hers with an accent of lace. I have enjoyed reflecting on their wedding while editing the photographs and thought I'd share some pretties where a bride makes her handmade diy bouquet look more than effortless!
