tom polucci portraits
I recently had the opportunity to photograph Tom Polucci for the magazine Interiors and Spaces. Polucci is a director of interior design paving the sustainable way for HOK, a cutting-edge global architectural firm. Down to earth and friendly as can be, he fully allowed me to keep the portrait session candid and casual, and I can't wait to read the upcoming article!

my eco-friendly DVD packaging
As I mentioned back in February, I am trying to completely "green" my photography business, and in doing so, I have had to be creative with the many different ways my final products can be as eco-friendly as possible {while still making everything look pretty, of course}. I hope to give photographic updates here and there with where I am at in my eco-movement, so today I am sharing the story on the DVDs my clients receive. Instead of using DVD paper labels, I use lightScribe (a completely paperless way to label the disks). The paper that I do use is for shipping and DVD case labeling and it is 100% recycled. As for the cardboard elements, they are 100% recycled, and 100% smile-worthy in my mind.
Coming soon, I will share my many more eco-friendly endeavors and the awesome Brooklyn engagement portrait shoot of the lovely Jill + Sam. Can't wait!

here comes marriage meal
As I have shared with many of my new clients, I not only photograph weddings but have been planning my own May 2011 wedding as well. With my own wedding right around the corner (40 days away to be exact!), I have been living in the world that I have never fully known before now. Totally in love and ecstatic to be getting married to the man I love but totally stressed out because there are just so many things to think of in planning our event!
So, I took some time out over the weekend to cook a nice dinner full of our favorite ingredients and to sit down with my husband-to-be for a comfort food break from wedding planning. The goal and achievement was to simply think of and talk about what marriage means to us and all of what we love about each other. No formality needed. It was so lovely, and although I am no chef, I figured it would be nice to share some of what I prepared. Enjoy! (We did.)

pretty in pink baby shower
Oh, what fun I had this past Sunday photographing a baby shower at Brooklyn's beautiful iCi Restaurant. Guests gathered to celebrate the arrival of baby Julia, the on-the-way daughter of Rose and Sean. I was hired as a "surprise" for the couple, with a photo booth set up in the corner for extra fun. The event was an absolute labor of love, brought to life by two soon-to-be "proud aunties" (who even created the super adorable backdrop for our photo booth setup). The theme was a vintage French circus: hot and sweet pinks, swirls, treats, and whimsical were everywhere, and activities kept everyone laughing and having a grand ol' time!
