vintage style wedding editing

Over the last few years of business I have seen a lot of wedding photography fads come and go and although some have been incredibly appealing, I have tried to always stick to my own personal style of taking a picture and a classic/timeless/natural style of editing. Recently though I discovered a box of vintage wedding photographs, all black and white naturally, and I was so inspired. I loved how grayed many of them had become and the strong contrast and grain. It gave me goosebumps. So I began fiddling with my black and white presets to create something that emulated the same emotion that I saw in these old photos. Here are some samples of what I have come up with. I am still not sure how I will roll out this new option, whether if by request or just at my own discretion when I in the editing room discover a photograph that calls out to me to be transformed, but I am in the meantime loving the results!

catskills ny fall wedding of kiera + john

It was a first experience for me photographing at a ski resort a couple of weeks back at the incredibly sweet Kiera + John's September and very Fall wedding and looking down from up high on Windham Mountain in the Catskills during their beautiful heartfelt ceremony, it was quite the first experience to have. It was clear to me from the moment I met them that these two really just wanted to have a great time on their wedding day, simple as that -- it was about experiencing it all in a way that was real, joyous and ultimately reflective of their personalities (especially in including their adorable dog in the ceremony to show how much a part of the family the pooch is!). And real and joyous it was -- the dance moves these cats broke out throughout the night were some of the best I have ever seen (holy cow, hula hoop light-show anyone?). The sun shined brighter than ever in the history of September days it seemed like and every moment from start to finish was so just right. A big thank you to Elena for second shooting + assisting me for the day & such a big congratulations to Kiera + John!!
