One of my favorite non-profit organizations in Ithaca, NY standing for all of the right things: reservation and restoration, the joint collaborations of Historic Ithaca and store, Significant Elements, sit on the corner of Center and Plain St. in a quirky warehouse that was "originally built by Pritchard & Sons for use as a carriage and wagon repository" and "later used as a corset factory, airplane parts factory, a warehouse for Rothschild’s Department Store, Harbeck’s Paper Company, and the ICC Furniture warehouse".

I had the opportunity to photograph their open house, and with colors and characters popping out at me with the backdrop of toilet seats and restored doors, I re-realized what makes Ithaca such a neat little town.

portraits of ones, twos, and fives

This summer I had the fine pleasure of working with my good friend, Miss Katie Fives, who is not only a quirky redhead, but also a very talented photographer. Four years of friendship, two years since starting my photography business, and finally, Katie is on board to be my go-to gal when I need an assistant. If it weren't for her bright encouraging smiles, I don't know if I would have survived the wedding of August, where the sun was burning through the threads of my clothes.

I love capturing Katie's sweet, youthful, with a little bit of edgy, presence through photograph. She is one of the most amazing women I have ever met, and a damn good assistant too boot.

they said i do

I am finishing up the editing process for the two weddings I photographed in August, and although they are not quite done yet, I have to say that for different reasons, these photos are turning out to be some of my favorites out of all that I've taken thus far in my professional career. The couples were rich with joy and fun and love, and there was something extra vibrant about them. Photographs of Melissa and Jonas will come later this week, but for now, thank you Mallory and Jeff for letting be a part of your special and playground-fun day.

newborn portraits

This week was filled with activity, and I am buzzing with energy and creativity. There are projects in the works, new opportunities being presented, and what is most important, is that I am swimming in it all: graciously swimming, with smooth backstrokes, not the attempted butterfly strokes of the 'trying to make the high school swim team' days.

Despite the heat of Upstate NY, I am feeling cool, calm, and for the most part, collected. I guess I could feel overwhelmed with each event that I fill my calendar boxes up with, but really, the excitement of keeping busy with art and photography outweighs the onsent of a panic attack.

What I have been up to: I photographed a newborn for the first time which was an incredibly interesting experience. At only two weeks old, I could swear this baby is going to be the next Kate Moss. Also on my agenda has been weddings, bands, and journalistic work that I will be trying to incorporate into my upcoming art opening on the tentative date of September 25th, 2009.
